Could Guitar Playing Be An Anti-Depressant?

Fiore Music’s current study is an attempt to measure the therapeutic value of learning how to play an instrument. Our long term research goals hope to include findings on the following:

Does playing music ease depression?

Does the instrument effect the easing of depression?

Does the style of music effect the easing of depression?

Does the key or mode effect the easing of depression?

Does the tone of the instrument effect the easing of depression?

Does the tempo effect the easing of depression?

Fiore Music President Vinny Dappio is personally overseeing the research in conjunction with Dr. Steven Berman of The University Of Central Florida.

Vinny Dappio graduated in 2003 from UCF with a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Psychology. While at UCF he was also the chapter Vice President of Psi Chi “The National Honor Society for Psychology” and is currently still a lifetime member. He also worked on University research teams during the 2002-2003 school year involving conflict resolution scenarios.
